Baby bundle

I love when my customers bring me an idea they have seen and let me take creative liberty with it. This one had seen a diaper bag she liked, but also wanted a boppy cover, waterproof boppy cover,  a couple of organizing bags, a car seat blanket and nursing cover. She had searched on Etsy for one person to make all of these items, but was unable to find what she wanted. Her friend, who had received a MandiMoo as a gift, recommended she contact me. She did, and here are the results! I wish I would have made doubles so I could have one, too!

Outdoor fabric on the outside, waterproof, easily wipeable PUL on the outside. Roomy, lots of pockets both inside and out. Two shoulder straps with a detachable longer one. Love everything about it!

Absolutely my most favorite bag ever!

MandiMoo is going national this week! This set is shipping to Louisiana as we speak, hopeful it arrives for a baby shower this weekend! Check in tomorrow for a project being shipped to Pennsylvania for an annual auction of a not-for-profit agency. On my "to sew" list of projects include items to be sent to Texas, Nebraska and Missouri, plus of course a growing list for people right here in God's country!

This set is by far my most favorite combination EVER. And since I covet most of the items my customers order (you, friends, have GREAT tastes in fabrics!), that is saying a lot!

This set includes a diaper bag, diaper clutch (experimenting with a more structured, sleek style...and must say I love it! Even thinking about doing a similar technique on a diaper bag for a sleeker look--let me know what you think!) and changing pad, along with a laminated pocket bib (both requirements in my book of baby stuff) and onesie. And of course since it was going to Louisiana, I had to do a fleur de lis! The mom-to-be is a horticulturist, and this fabric has been in my stash for a long time because I love it so much and wanted to find the perfect project for it...I think I found the perfect project! Pumpkin Patch 2012

These pics were taken about 1/2 way through the day on the first day, so already a lot of stuff picked over! I am still in awe about Pumpkin Patch and what an amazing weekend it was...the weather was perfect, the sales were great, the friends and family helping me out made the days so much better...all the vendors I spoke with agreed it was an exceptional weekend!

The displays were an added bonus this year. I borrowed them from my in-laws who own a mercantile. Meant for DVDs, they were great for showcasing the 120+ reusable sandwich bags (which sold out) as well as the embroidered onesies and infant beanies. The taller displays in the back were perfect for tablet/e-reader clutches and the children's hats.

Thanks to all who came out and helped, shopped, and enjoyed the weekend!

Love the color combo on this one! Needed it to be gender neutral, so went with a yellow changing pad--and it really popped!

A custom diaper bag--wish I could have kept this! Black and white zebra print, my favorite, and purple? Of course! Some mom is going to look great at K-State football games this fall!

New favorite diaper bag!

My sister requested a new diaper bag for her birthday (yes, clear back in May.) I did get it done for her birthday, I am only behind in my blogging!

My thanks to her for all of her feedback and suggestions on how to make my products better--more useful, more efficient, more durable, more accessible. So I was really glad when we planned out specifically what she wanted in this bag, and I was even more excited when it turned out so incredibly well! I will definitely be using this bag style more frequently. For now it gets the name "Square Shoulder bag"

I LOVE the fabric that she chose, and the fun coordinating binding really adds to the overall look. This is similar in style to the boxy 3-in-1 bag, but has only a shoulder strap (as opposed to the optional backpack straps and stroller straps)

Also, she is currently (though she hopes for only a short while more) diapering two children, so she wanted a diaper clutch that would keep two sizes of diapers, plus wipes. I think we still have some adjustments to make on this one, but will definitely be adding it to the product line. "Double Diaper Duty"

Sew much? So much!

Blog much? Not so much. I have been doing A LOT of sewing, and haven't taken much time to blog! But that means that this post will be mostly pictures of the projects I have been working on.

The count down is on...baby girl is scheduled to arrive in 22 days and a few odd hours...so I have been sewing like a maniac to get all of my projects finished, as well as to leave a few spare hours to sew a few things for baby! I will officially be a full-time stay-at-home mom in a matter of days, so hopefully that will increase my sewing time...though this 70 degree weather may make me re-think how I spend my hours!

Okay, on to pictures...
Up first, a custom tote for a dear friend.


As you can see when compared to the regular tote, this one is not as tall, a little wider, and has elasticized exterior pockets on the ends.

As my dear, kind friend wrote after receiving her bag, "I love it. Carried it today and it is so much better than my Vera Bradley..." Wow! Talk about an ultimate compliment!!!

This next one is a custom purse/bag. The client was looking for something more like a purse and less like a diaper bag, as she didn't necessarily need a diaper bag but something rather for toddler snacks, toys, etc. I love the size of this--big enough to fit all you need, not so big you put in a bunch of stuff you don't need just because you have the space!



This last one I am calling a "messy bag". It is about 9" x 11", ecouture (lined with recycled plastic bags) with velcro all along the top edge. My vision for this is to toss in a diaper bag to have for when you need to stash some dirty clothes or maybe even dirty cloth diapers. Just turn it inside out and wash with your laundry.


This is a t-shirt quilt that I made for a friend of mine who happened to be my high school math teacher. She used to coach cross-country when AHS used to have a team, and wanted a way to save her memories.


According to the message she left on my parents' answering machine (which my mom played for me over her cell phone for lack of a better way for me to listen to it...being high-tech runs in my family! haha)
"I had planned on storing this in the car to take to football games, now I am looking for a place to display it in my home. You took something that was boxed up in my basement and made a wonderful memory for me." You all are so kind!

These next few pics are a sample of what I have been working on for the many friends and family who have had or are having babies. This set is for my niece and nephew and their new sister set to arrive in June. ***Please note that I cannot legally sell anything licensed, such as the K-State pieces pictured. If you would like something made out of licensed fabric, you will have to purchase the fabric and essentially hire me to make something out of it...so I am selling my labor, not a licensed piece.***




And finally, just a fun piece that I made for our baby girl. I just couldn't resist! And yes, mom, it can be worn with a shirt underneath, in case baby girl gets cold in the 100 degree weather we are known to have now and again!

Just to give you an idea, this bag features 2 outer pockets under the flap, and one outer pocket on each side, all great for keys, cell phone, wallet, and other items that need to be in easy reach. Inside, you will find 2 bottle loops on each side, and no less than 6 pockets on the inside front and 4 on the inside back! That is a total of 14 pockets and 4 bottle loops!

That is MY kind of diaper bag!

Ecouture

Ecouture--my version of upcycled/recycled fashionable accessories!

I use plastic shopping bags, that would otherwise end up in a landfill, melt them together, and use it as "fabric". At a minimum, each product in my ecouture line saves 3 bags from a landfill. Diaper bags save as many as 25 bags each!

In addition, ecouture products are easily wipeable, completely washable (DO NOT IRON!), and mostly waterproof--perfect for a mom on the go.

This is a diaper bag I recently made for some dear friends for their baby shower. Made of outdoor fabric, it is stain resistant.

It came with a matching diaper clutch (in front) and coordinating changing pad, all from the ecouture line. As you can see, the diaper bag has plenty of pockets on the inside and on the front, under the messenger-bag style flap. This one also features optional bottle loops on the side.

There is a rear pocket made especially for the changing pad, or if you don't use it for a diaper bag, it works well for a planner, notebook, keys, or anything else you need to have easily accessible.
