Diaper bag--style meets versatility!

Wear it as a shoulder bag...
...wear it as a backpack...
...throw it over your stroller handles...
...all with the ease of functional, stylish, simple clasps...

...add a coordinating diaper clutch and changing pad...

...and you've got one great diaper bag!
The newest style in the MandiMoo ecouture line, this boxy backpack is functional, versatile, stylish...a "gotta-have" on any new (or seasoned!) mom's list! Order early for Christmas! And of course, LINED with pockets and elastic bottle loops!
As one recent customer, Meg S., commented, "Ok, the diaper bag rocks. It's easy to carry and I haven't even switched out the strap to the backpack...now if I could just remember where I put stuff with the multitude of pockets we will be in business. I think I find a new pocket everyday!"
Just to give you an idea, this bag features 2 outer pockets under the flap, and one outer pocket on each side, all great for keys, cell phone, wallet, and other items that need to be in easy reach. Inside, you will find 2 bottle loops on each side, and no less than 6 pockets on the inside front and 4 on the inside back! That is a total of 14 pockets and 4 bottle loops!
That is MY kind of diaper bag!

Receiving blanket/onesie combo

MandiMoo receiving blankets are the perfect size at approximately 45" x 36". Large enough for swaddling your newborn, small enough for baby to carry around, and still plenty of room to throw over a napping two and 1/2 year-old little guy!
Receiving blankets can be either single or double. Singles are typically one piece of flannel with a finished edge. Doubles are two layers of fabric--either two layers of flannel back to back or one flannel and one cotton layer, back to back with a cute coordinating rick-rack edge.
The coordinating onesies shown here are appliqued or reverse appliqued (the first close-up is reverse appliqued--the fish print is sewn to the inside of the onesie and then the onesie is cut so you can see the fish print).
All appliques have an iron-on interfacing inside to prevent the stitching from scratching or rubbing baby's delicate skin!
As always, I can find fabric to suit just about any taste!

Discounts for plastic bags

First, a picture of the MandiMoo I currently carry. This was my first attempt at the Victoria bag, and have made some changes since (adding hardware, for one!) This purse was made from leftover material from some blackout curtains I made for a customer on the East Coast.
Now on to business!
Second only to "how much does a MandiMoo Design cost?" is the question about receiving a discount for supplying the bullseye bags that work so well for the lining (please note that I only use these bags because the meltability is SO much better than other bags...I am in no way using the bullseye design or that store as a way to sell my items).

*When you supply enough bags for me to make a diaper bag (25!), you will receive a 15% discount on your next purchase. Only one discount per item. The best way to redeem your discount is to supply the bags when placing an order. They stuff nicely into a manila envelope and mail for just a small amount of change. Write a note with your name, address, and a reminder of the item you are ordering so that I can give you the appropriate discount. I will also give a 1% discount for every 2 bags that you provide, up to 10% (after that, you may as well just wait for 5 more to get the 15% discount).

Of course, I also take free will "donations" of your plastic bullseye bags!

*Policy subject to change based on how easy it is for you, and me, to keep track of! Stay tuned...

What do your items cost?

This is a question I have received a lot lately, both on blog comments (thanks for all of the comments, by the way...fun to see new names checking out MandiMoo!) and by email.

My philosophy behind MandiMoo Designs is to provide "fun, functional, fashionable, affordable" items to women like myself. As a mom on a budget, I know that fashion can't always win out if the price tag is high! With that said, I try to put myself in your shoes. I always ask myself...would I buy it for that price? How does it compare to other similar items? Can I make it myself? (I hope you aren't asking yourself that question, for my sake! haha)

With that said, I am listing a few of the MandiMoo items and what you can purchase them for.*
Victoria purse $40
Diaper bag, messenger style $75
Diaper bag, boxy style $100
Diaper clutch $15
Changing pad $7
COMBO Diaper bag (messenger style), diaper clutch and changing pad $90
COMBO Diaper bag (boxy style), clutch and changing pad $115
Laptop bags starting at $100
Crib sets starting at $100 plus price of materials (this can vary a lot depending on the items you want and the fabric that you purchase. $100 plus materials would include a bumper, crib skirt and basic window treatment...quilts, blackout curtains, rocking chair pillows, etc. would increase cost of both materials and labor)

Shipping is not included. I typically ship Priority Mail, $5-$10 depending on the item.
*Prices subject to change. MandiMoo will verify all prices with a buyer prior to making and shipping an item.

I will be adding more items soon, and will post prices as I do. Please let me know if you have questions!

I love a challenge!

Yes, these are cowgirl boots. Yes, they are bright, hot pink cowgirl boots in size 0-3 months. And yes, hopefully soon my new niece "Doris" will be sporting these kicks with her super cute tutu that I made to go with them! Nothing says farm girl like tutus and pink boots!

I will post a picture of the new princess as soon as she arrives and as soon as I can get her dressed in her new gear!

So the purpose of this post is that I L-O-V-E a challenge. Whether it is designing a pattern for a pair of pink cowgirl boots that I will probably use only once (maybe twice...the girl will need some in 3-6 month size, too!) or finding the perfect fabric, or creating the diaper bag a new style of diaper bag (pictures to come soon!), I love new ideas! So if you have a unique project that you have been thinking about but not sure how to proceed, let me know! I love to try new projects, especially when they can be custom, one-of-a-kind treasures.

Disclaimer: Unique projects must be of an arts/crafts/sewing nature, and I make no guarantees that I will be able to make your specific project. I would like the opportunity to think about it, though, and will do my best to make it work. If I can't, I will let you know!

New Hardware on purses

Can you tell I love black and white prints? I am sure this isn't the end of it! I just wanted to showcase some of the hardware options available on purses. There are round rings, square, silver, gold, antique silver, antique gold...only your desires limit what is possible!

Laptop bag

This custom laptop bag is made similarly to the messenger-style diaper bags, only with more structure and padding to accomodate a computer. There is also a hook and loop closure instead of a magnetic snap. Laptop bags are custom-made only to ensure a perfect fit for the size of your computer. There are plenty of pockets for all of your laptop peripherals, as well as keys, wallet, cell phone, etc. As always, your choice of fabric! Laptop bags starting at $100.

Baby bedding!

Above is a crib set I made for some good friends and their little girl "K". The bumper pads are brown with pink polka dots on the outside, and pink with brown polka dots on the inside where the baby sees it. The skirt and matching floor to ceiling window drapery are a beautiful brown on pink traditional print. They did a great job picking out fabric that looks amazing in their dark chocolate brown nursery! Thanks, "L" family for letting me make your bedding set!

Come back soon to see a black and white crib set that I recently finished...I am waiting for the nursery that I made it for to be completed. The pictures are always SO much better when the crib set is in the room it was made for!

Another diaper bag

Just another take on the diaper bag--see, any fabric goes!

Diaper clutch and handbags

More ecouture products: the diaper clutch, which also can be used as a small handbag for running to the store or a night out (without the kids!) Large enough for a wipes case and a couple of diapers and some necessities; small enough for a cell phone, wallet, lip gloss and keys.

And for those of you who say you love the products, but don't have kids, I also offer an ecouture purse--this style is the Victoria, again, fabric choice is yours!

Plastic shopping bags

If you would like to help with my ecouture line, I would greatly appreciate any plastic shopping bags you can spare! I specifically prefer the ones with the bullseye on them, as they melt the best. If you can round up a few from your shopping trips or your recycling bin, I will work out a discount for you based on the number of bags you provide.

Thanks for helping MandiMoo by keeping plastic out of our landfills!

Moomy wraps

MandiMoo got started with the original moomy wrap, such as this one I made for a baby gift for a customer in Texas (thanks, Julie! Leslie, I hope you enjoy it.)

What is a moomy wrap?

A traditional baby wrap (six yards of fabric that you tie around you in different configurations to carry a baby) with the exclusive moomy wrap pocket, which you can see on the right. This exclusive pocket allows you to contain those six yards of fabric (the last thing you need while carrying baby, diaper bag, keys, and groceries is to trip on six yards of fabric!) when you aren't using the wrap.

And when you are using the wrap? Use it to carry your keys, phone, and wallet for a quick jaunt into the store or at the park.

Moomy wraps are made of cotton knit, usually in black or brown (though I can accomodate most other color requests). I also have available organic, cotton/bamboo blends, and recycled fabric. The pocket can be made in a variety of colors and styles--I have done contemporary, classic, even retro cowboy!

Ecouture

Ecouture--my version of upcycled/recycled fashionable accessories!

I use plastic shopping bags, that would otherwise end up in a landfill, melt them together, and use it as "fabric". At a minimum, each product in my ecouture line saves 3 bags from a landfill. Diaper bags save as many as 25 bags each!

In addition, ecouture products are easily wipeable, completely washable (DO NOT IRON!), and mostly waterproof--perfect for a mom on the go.

This is a diaper bag I recently made for some dear friends for their baby shower. Made of outdoor fabric, it is stain resistant.
It came with a matching diaper clutch (in front) and coordinating changing pad, all from the ecouture line. As you can see, the diaper bag has plenty of pockets on the inside and on the front, under the messenger-bag style flap. This one also features optional bottle loops on the side.

There is a rear pocket made especially for the changing pad, or if you don't use it for a diaper bag, it works well for a planner, notebook, keys, or anything else you need to have easily accessible.

Welcome to MandiMoo Designs!

Thank you for visiting MandiMoo Designs. I hope you like what you see! I plan to keep my comments to a minimum and my pictures to a maximum.

This blog is an opportunity to showcase the products that I design and make in my pet-free, smoke-free, usually toy-strewn, absolutely inspiring home studio.

I welcome your comments, and your orders! If you find a product that you like, please call or email me. mandimoo37@hotmail.com or 785-565-1392. If you like a product, but would like to tweak the fabric/colors, let me know. Most of my work is custom, and I like to make items that express the buyer/recipients personality.

For the time being, I only accept orders via phone or email. In the future I hope to have a website with a shopping cart, and potentially host some purse parties (Susan, you are first on my list!) Until then, look, shop, call/email, and enjoy!

Now for some pictures!
